High school can be a stressful environment with a lot of pressures to do well. These stresses can often take a toll on your health in a negative way. In a study by NPR and a radio story, it says that “nearly half of all teens — 45 percent — said they were stressed by school pressures.” But school doesn’t only have to be a stressful place, it can also be a place where you relax and have fun spending time in high school. By creating an environment where students can relax, stress levels could decrease, so I decided to create the Ransom Everglades Student Center.
Ransom Everglades Student Center will provide students with not only a place to relax and have fun, but also to study and do homework. The relaxation room will provide students with a place to sleep and wind-down from all the stress caused by our school. The game room will provide everyone at the school with a place to have fun during their free periods and lunch. The study rooms will provide students with individual rooms to study if they have to be concentrated and can’t focus in the library because of the noise that is sometimes created. They can also be used for group projects so people can collaborate without being kicked out of the library.
My school recently bought the property next door, so there is a lot of room for expansion and for the student center. I envision there being a pathway leading up to the door, with a lot of nature surrounding the structure. The outside would have a modern design that is simplistic but also using some wood to blend in with the rest of the school. The inside would also be simplistic, with the relaxation room having couches and bean bags, the game room having pool tables, foosball tables, ping pong tables, board games, and cards, and the study rooms having desks and maybe at least one having a projector.
