What are Kids Really Eating at School?

The Problem With School Lunches

School lunches have to attract kids to want to eat them, and as a result they typically consist of fried chicken tenders, pizza, little fruits and vegetables, and foods lacking nutrition. All around America, there are school lunches failing to give students the nutrients they need to grow, learn, and be successful. Something we fail to recognize is that “schools are in the unique position of being able to set an example and help students good habits early in life”- We need our kids to be able to learn healthy eating habits in order to develop healthy lifestyles.

Knowing that there are some picky eaters out there… is there a way schools can create healthier versions of unhealthier foods? Such as a pizza topped with lots of veggies or baked/grilled chicken instead of fried? Definitely something to think about! Keep up the great work 🙂

This a good topic to talk about because different food options are key to nutrition. Being a picky eater, I prefer options when it comes to my meals. There have been many changes legally for the lunches at school. It’s important to give students the options they want.
